Personal Balance Sheet Excel Template

I’d like an Excel workbook that serves as my personal balance sheet, but with the emphasis on tracking Income and Expenses rather than a full asset-liability breakdown. The file should open in Microsoft Excel (latest desktop version) and work without the need for external add-ins or macros.

Here’s what I have in mind:

• A clean dashboard sheet that shows monthly and year-to-date income versus expenses, with clear totals and a quick visual (simple bar or pie chart is fine).
• Separate, well-labeled tabs where I can log individual income entries and expense items. These logs should automatically feed the dashboard through formulas like SUMIFS, so I never have to re-enter data.
• Drop-down categories for both income and expenses that I can edit later in a hidden “Settings” tab.
• Built-in formulas protected against accidental deletion but still leaving the data cells unlocked for easy entry.
• Light, readable formatting—no heavy colours—and everything printable on A4 paper.

I only need the personal version, so please stay focused on that; if you have previous templates built for corporate or non-profit use, feel free to adapt the parts that fit, but leave out anything that isn’t relevant to a single individual’s finances.

Deliverable: an .xlsx file ready to use, plus a brief one-page note explaining where to type new data and how the summary updates.
