We are seeking an experienced Pega Data / Integration Engineer to support data architecture, API and service integration, migration, validation, and operational interoperability for an enterprise Department of Veterans Affairs Pega Cloud solution. The role connects Pega to authoritative financial, acquisition, identity, reporting, and enterprise systems through secure, resilient, standards-based patterns. Direct experience with every named VA system is not required; strong enterprise integration and data-governance skills are essential.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and implement Pega data and integration solutions using data pages, connectors, services, mappings, APIs, and approved enterprise integration patterns.

Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data artifacts, mappings, dictionaries, metadata, source-to-target specifications, and interface documentation.

Implement secure REST/OpenAPI services, request/response orchestration, transformations, and integration error-handling patterns.

Support ETL, batch, event, or near-real-time data movement for migration, synchronization, reporting, and operational workflows.

Plan and execute data migration activities, including extraction, cleansing, normalization, legacy crosswalks, reconciliation, exception reporting, and rollback support.

Preserve authoritative-source discipline, data lineage, traceability, auditability, and consistent definitions across fiscal years and business domains.

Build resilient integration behavior using idempotency, retries, dead-letter handling, controlled replay, monitoring, and reconciliation.

Collaborate with Pega architects and developers to keep interface complexity separated from configurable workflow design and minimize custom code.

Support integration, migration, and data-validation testing; investigate defects and performance issues across Pega, middleware, and source systems.

Monitor production interfaces and data flows, support onboarding of additional user organizations, and maintain operational documentation and knowledge articles.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

5+ years of experience in enterprise application integration, data engineering, API development, data migration, or comparable roles.

Hands-on experience with Pega data/integration capabilities or strong experience integrating a comparable enterprise workflow or case-management platform.

Strong knowledge of REST APIs, OpenAPI concepts, JSON/XML, authentication, data mapping, error handling, and secure service design.

Experience with SQL, data modeling, ETL or batch processing, source-to-target mapping, data quality, and reconciliation.

Experience designing reliable integrations with logging, monitoring, retry/replay, exception management, and operational support.

Ability to understand authoritative sources, metadata, lineage, auditability, and data-governance requirements.

Experience supporting Agile development, testing, release, and production troubleshooting.

Strong analytical, technical documentation, collaboration, and communication skills.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

Experience with Pega Platform, Pega Cloud, Java-based integration, Kafka/event processing, or enterprise integration middleware.

Experience in Federal, financial, acquisition, health, or another regulated environment; direct VA system experience is beneficial but not required.

Familiarity with iFAMS, eCMS, ServiceNow, VASI, identity services, or comparable authoritative enterprise systems.

Working knowledge of FedRAMP, Zero Trust, ICAM, data privacy, Section 508, or AI-ready data architecture.

Relevant Pega, integration, data, API, Java, or cloud certification is preferred, but not required.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

CLEARANCE:
