The Role:
We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our lean finance team as a key contributor. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer the Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll accurately, timely, and in compliance with applicable state and federal requirements. This role is remote but needs to be comfortable with East Coast hours.
As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for:
Coordinate and execute end to end payroll processing for employees accurately and within established deadlines
Enter and maintain employee information, including hours worked, pay rates, tax withholding, benefits deductions, and other relevant data into the payroll system
Review and audit time and attendance records to ensure accuracy in calculating hours worked, overtime, miles, and other pay-related factors (deductions, stipends, bonuses, etc.)
Handle payroll processing for employees across multiple states, ensuring compliance with various state regulations, tax requirements, and labor laws
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, deductions, and pay discrepancies in a professional and timely manner
Collaborate with IT/Product and HR teams to maintain and update the payroll system, ensuring accurate employee data and smooth system functionality
Perform other related duties as assigned
In this role, you must have:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline preferred
Two to three years of payroll processing experience required
High proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite or similar software; advanced Excel skills
Experience with Bamboo payroll system preferred
Knowledge of payroll regulations, tax codes, and labor laws
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
