YouTube Football Documentary Video Editor
Im looking for a talented YouTube Video Editor to create engaging, story-driven football documentaries for a growing YouTube channel. Our videos focus on the biggest stories, players, managers, controversies and moments in football — told through fast-paced, cinematic storytelling.
The goal is not simply to put football clips behind a voice-over. We want videos that keep viewers watching from the first second until the end.
What you'll be doing
You will receive a completed script and voice-over. Your job will be to turn them into a polished 10–15 minute YouTube documentary.
This includes:
Finding relevant football footage, interviews, archive material, photographs and supporting visuals.
Editing footage tightly around the narration.
Creating strong pacing and frequent visual changes without making the video feel over-edited.
Using music and sound design to build emotion, tension and momentum.
Adding simple motion graphics, headlines, statistics, maps, timelines or tactical graphics where they improve the story.
Using zooms, crops, transitions and visual effects naturally rather than excessively.
Finding creative ways to visualize parts of the script where obvious footage isn't available.
Understanding when an important moment needs space and when the edit needs to move quickly.
The style we're looking for
The videos should feel like mini football documentaries, not compilations or traditional football news videos.
The ideal editor understands that viewer retention is the priority.
The first 30 seconds need to be especially strong. Visuals should continually support what the narrator is saying, and the viewer should rarely feel like they are watching the same type of footage for too long.
You should have
Strong experience with Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or similar professional editing software; a strong understanding of football; experience editing YouTube long-form content; good English comprehension so you can accurately visualize the script; strong research skills for finding relevant footage; and an understanding of pacing, storytelling, music and sound design.
Experience with YouTube retention-focused editing and football documentary content is a major advantage.
Important
Please do not apply with only short-form/Reels/TikTok examples.
We're specifically looking for someone capable of producing polished 10–15 minute long-form YouTube videos.
When applying, please send:
Your 3 best long-form editing examples.
Any football/sports documentaries you've edited.
Your price for editing a 10–15 minute video.
Your typical turnaround time.
The editing software you use.
A short explanation of how you would keep viewers engaged during a 12-minute football documentary.
Potential for ongoing work
This is not intended to be a one-off project.
If the first video performs well and we're happy with the collaboration, we're looking for an editor who can become a long-term part of the channel, with consistent videos and increasing production quality over time.
