Organic Artwork CNC Vector Redraw

Project Description
I am looking for an experienced vector artist/CAD designer to take an existing original artwork concept and
professionally redraw it as clean vector artwork suitable for fabrication from 6 mm aluminum plate using
CNC laser cutting.
The artwork will NOT be posted publicly. Images and detailed design information will be provided privately
only to the freelancer I select.
The selected freelancer will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before receiving
the confidential artwork, detailed design files, or other proprietary project information.
This is not simply an image-tracing or automatic JPG-to-DXF conversion project. The selected freelancer
must be capable of preserving the artistic character of an organic design while creating clean, accurate,
fabrication-ready geometry.
The finished piece will be approximately 24 inches (610 mm) in diameter and contains numerous
decorative openings that will be completely cut through the aluminum. These openings will later be filled with
translucent colored epoxy resin and illuminated from behind.
The designer must understand how to create attractive organic shapes while maintaining appropriate
minimum web widths, minimum opening sizes, structural connections, closed contours, and cuttable
geometry in 6 mm aluminum.
Required Skills and Deliverables
• Excellent artistic/vector drawing ability.
• Demonstrated experience preparing DXF files for CNC laser cutting, waterjet cutting, or similar
metal fabrication.
• Ability to manually redraw/refine artwork rather than simply auto-trace it.
• Understanding of closed contours, minimum web widths, kerf considerations, duplicate lines, intersecting
geometry, open vectors, and other common DXF fabrication problems.
• Ability to preserve symmetry and precise dimensional relationships.
• Final drawing must be exactly 24.000 inches (609.6 mm) outside diameter at 1:1 scale.
• Deliver fabrication-ready DXF, editable AI or SVG, and a high-resolution PDF showing the completed
design.
• DXF must contain clean cutting geometry with no duplicate entities, stray points, unnecessary nodes,
overlapping lines, or unintended open contours.
• Reasonable revisions are included until the supplied artwork has been accurately reproduced and the
DXF passes a basic fabrication review.
Confidentiality and NDA
Signing the NDA is a condition of receiving the artwork. The selected freelancer may not copy, publish,
post, share, distribute, sell, reuse, display in a portfolio, or disclose the artwork or project files without my
prior written permission. The NDA must be signed before confidential artwork or detailed design information
is released.
English Fluency Required
English fluency is required. We will need to communicate about precise artistic and fabrication details, so
applicants must be able to communicate clearly in written English.
IMPORTANT - FIXED PRICE
This project will be awarded at an agreed fixed total price.
Your bid must be your complete price for the project. The price will not be renegotiated or increased
after the project is awarded. Please review the requirements carefully before bidding. Do not submit a low
initial bid with the intention of increasing the price later.
After selection and NDA execution, the freelancer will receive the confidential artwork. If the freelancer then
believes the work cannot be completed for the submitted fixed price, the freelancer may decline before work
begins. Once the freelancer accepts the artwork and begins the project, the agreed fixed price will not be
renegotiated.
When Applying
Please provide examples of decorative metal artwork, laser-cut artwork, CNC/waterjet designs,
complex vector illustrations, or DXF fabrication files you have personally created.
Also answer these four questions in your proposal:
1 What software will you use to redraw the artwork and produce the final DXF?
2 Have you previously produced DXF files that were actually used for CNC laser or waterjet cutting of
metal?
3 Does your bid represent your complete fixed price for the work described above?
4 Are you willing to sign an NDA before receiving the artwork?
