I would like to make several changes to the current PCB design to reduce manufacturing costs and make the board easier to assemble and connect.

1. Convert to Surface-Mount Components (SMD)

Replace all six through-hole resistors with surface-mount resistors.

Replace all three through-hole transistors with surface-mount equivalents.

Use components compatible with JLCPCB's automated assembly process.

Maintain the circuit's existing functionality, including 9V operation.

2. Replace Soldered Wire Connections with Screw Terminals

I would like to eliminate the need to solder external wires directly to the PCB. Instead, please use screw-type terminal blocks that allow wires to be inserted and clamped down by tightening a screw.

Please include four 2-position terminal blocks:

Battery: Positive (+) and negative (−)

Probe: P+ and P−

Red LED: Positive (+) and negative (−)

Green LED: Positive (+) and negative (−)

This will allow the wires to be connected, disconnected, or replaced without soldering.

3. Additional Design Requirements

Retain the four mounting holes.

Keep the red and green LEDs off the PCB, connected through the screw terminals.

Maintain the existing circuit operation and electrical performance.

Select surface-mount components and terminal blocks suitable for professional manufacturing and assembly.

4. Manufacturing Requirements

I plan to have JLCPCB manufacture and assemble the boards. Please prepare all necessary production files, including:

Updated KiCad schematic and PCB layout

Gerber files

Bill of Materials (BOM)

Component placement (CPL/pick-and-place) file

The overall goal is to reduce manufacturing and assembly costs while creating a PCB that is easier to wire, maintain, and use.
