I’m putting together a fully open-source platform that lets a college run day-to-day operations from the browser. Everything must be modular, cleanly documented, and easy for other institutions to fork or extend.
Core modules in scope
• Student Management – smooth online enrollment/registration flows, daily attendance capture (manual entry or CSV upload), and a gradebook that can export results to PDF or CSV.
• Course Management – tools for syllabus publishing, deadline-driven assignment submissions with file upload, and a planner that builds course timetables automatically or by drag-and-drop.
• Faculty Management – profiles, workload tracking, and simple approval screens for leave or substitution requests.
Tech preferences are flexible as long as the stack is mature and community-supported (Laravel, Django, Spring Boot, Node/Express, or comparable). Source code must live in a public Git repository under an OSI-approved licence, with README instructions for local setup, database migration, and sample data seeding.
Acceptance is based on:
1. All listed features present and working behind role-based authentication.
2. Responsive UI tested on desktop and mobile.
3. Automated tests covering critical paths (enrollment, assignment submission, grade entry).
4. Clear developer docs plus user walkthrough videos (screen-capture is fine).
I’ll review each module as a separate milestone, merging only when tests pass and documentation is complete.
