WordPress/Kadence Developer + Automation Support

I manage a growing portfolio of WordPress websites and am looking for a reliable, detail-oriented developer for ongoing part-time support.

The immediate priority is completing and improving an existing mortgage website built with WordPress, Gutenberg, and Kadence. This is not a full website rebuild. I need someone comfortable working within an existing installation, identifying problems, improving the site, and documenting the work completed.

Initial work will include:

Reviewing the existing WordPress installation before making changes
Confirming backups and recovery procedures
Auditing active plugins and identifying unnecessary or duplicate functionality
Working with Gutenberg and Kadence
Standardizing global colors, fonts, buttons, and spacing
Repairing/improving headers, navigation, and footers
Completing existing page layouts and homepage sections
Improving responsive behavior across desktop, tablet, and mobile
Configuring and testing forms and lead capture
Supporting GA4 and Google Search Console setup
Following technical SEO best practices
Improving website performance and troubleshooting issues
Documenting significant changes
Automation Opportunities

As the initial websites are completed, I also plan to develop automation workflows connecting WordPress with third-party services and AI tools.

Future work may include:

Zapier/Make workflows
API and webhook integrations
OpenAI/AI integrations
Video and transcript-to-blog automation
Automated WordPress draft creation
Form and lead-routing automation
Google Workspace and CRM integrations
HTML/CSS/JavaScript scripting
Occasional PHP customization

Automation experience is highly desirable, but strong WordPress troubleshooting and development skills are the immediate priority.

Development Approach

I prefer lightweight, maintainable WordPress websites. I do not want unnecessary plugins, duplicate functionality, excessive page builders, or recurring paid software added when existing functionality can accomplish the job.

Paid plugins, major architectural changes, theme replacements, or significant changes to the existing technology stack require approval first.

All work is managed through clearly defined tasks with priorities, estimated hours, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.

The workflow is:

Ready → In Progress → QA Review → Done

Good communication, documentation, attention to detail, responsive design, security, performance, and technical SEO are important.

Paid Trial & Ongoing Work

I plan to begin with a small paid 2–3 hour trial before assigning ongoing work.

The right developer may receive continued work across multiple websites and future automation projects.

When applying, please include:

2–3 WordPress websites you personally worked on and what you did
Your experience with Gutenberg and Kadence
An example of an existing WordPress website you inherited and improved
Your experience with Zapier, Make, APIs, webhooks, or AI integrations
Your hourly rate and availability

Please begin your proposal with “JMG Developer” so I know you read the complete project description.

What I’ll look for in each engagement:
• Updated site files safely deployed on the live server, with a brief changelog.
• Design or layout tweaks rendering correctly in all modern browsers and devices.
• Performance and security checks showing no critical issues.
• Zapier scenario(s) documented, tested end-to-end, and handed off so I can tweak them later.

If you’re comfortable with WordPress development, API integration, workflow automation, and the usual front-end stack, this should be a smooth ongoing collaboration.
