I’m bringing a large-scale projection mapping installation to one of the main building facades at the University of Alabama and need a versatile motion designer physically on campus for the rehearsal and show nights.
The current media suite already blends text and graphics, pre-rendered video, and a few interactive triggers, but in the final hours I often have to swap sponsor logos, tweak typography, reshape color palettes, or slip in a last-minute animation cue. Your primary role is to jump into those content adjustments fast, render cleanly, and hand the updated files straight to the projection server team so the schedule stays on track.
You should feel at home inside After Effects (expressions and pre-comp management), Premiere or Resolve for quick edits, and, ideally, have some familiarity with projection software so you can double-check mapping slices before we push to the Christie rigs. Notch or TouchDesigner experience is a bonus for the interactive bits, but solid layer management and an eye for pixel accuracy matter most.
Deliverables (on site):
• Rapid turn-around of any requested text, graphic, or video revisions
• Exported files in the exact codec/resolution specs we provide (mostly HapQ & ProRes)
• Presence during tech rehearsal and opening night to confirm the updates look correct in situ
Additional Requirements:
• Freelancer must be located within 30 minutes of the University of Alabama (preferably Birmingham) as no travel expenses are included.
• Budget range: $800–$1000 per day for two days.
If you thrive under tight timelines, can iterate quickly without sacrificing quality, and can be in Tuscaloosa for a two-day window this week (Thursday the 8th and Friday the 9th) let’s lock this in.
