The engineer will apply thermal hydraulics principles, modeling and simulation methods, and reactor systems engineering expertise to evaluate system performance, heat transfer, transients, and safety-related behavior.
This position may be performed remotely and may require travel to Idaho to support conceptual design activities and related technical collaboration.
Responsibilities
Perform engineering analysis and design for sodium-cooled reactor systems.

Develop, execute, and evaluate thermal hydraulics models and simulations supporting sodium-cooled fast reactor design and analysis.

Support reactor systems design activities and evaluate system performance against applicable technical objectives and design criteria.

Apply computational fluid dynamics tools and/or reactor system analysis codes to assess fluid flow, heat transfer, and system behavior.

Conduct safety analyses, transient analyses, and heat transfer evaluations for advanced reactor systems.

Prepare and communicate technical results, assumptions, methods, and conclusions in support of design reviews and conceptual design activities.

Support nuclear licensing activities, technical design reviews, and advanced reactor development programs, as assigned.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, national laboratories, reactor vendors, and advanced reactor developers, as applicable.

Travel to Idaho as needed to support conceptual design activities and other project requirements.

Requirements
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in engineering or a closely related technical discipline.

Demonstrated experience performing analysis and design for reactor systems.

Ability to work effectively in a remote environment and travel to Idaho as project needs require.

The candidates should have experience in one or more of the following areas:
Sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR) design and analysis

Thermal hydraulics modeling and simulation

Reactor systems design and performance evaluation

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and/or system codes used in reactor analysis

Safety analysis, transient analysis, and heat transfer evaluations

Nuclear licensing, design reviews, or advanced reactor development programs

Education and Experience
A master’s degree or Ph.D. in engineering or a closely related technical discipline is required.
Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
