Normalize Internal Spacing in Excel

I have one (possibly two) Excel workbooks where many of the text cells contain multiple consecutive spaces inside the strings—think “New York” or “Invoice Number”. I do NOT need you to touch leading or trailing blanks; the goal is strictly to collapse everything inside the text so that any run of spaces becomes a single space.

You may tackle this with a quick VBA routine, Power Query, an advanced Find-Replace sequence, or whichever method you prefer, as long as the result is accurate and repeatable. When you send the file back, every internal gap must be reduced to exactly one space, with all other content left untouched.

• A brief note (or embedded macro) that shows the steps or code you used so I can re-run it in future.

I will spot-check several fields, so rows that still contain double spaces—or ones where legitimate spacing has been removed—will be considered incomplete.
