Nightclub / Bar Interior Designer Needed – Create a Completely New Nightlife Experience
Project Overview

I am looking for an experienced and highly creative interior designer, nightclub designer, architect, or hospitality design specialist to help design a unique new entertainment venue in New Zealand.

The goal is not simply to create another bar or nightclub. I want to create a venue that helps completely reinvent and revitalise the nightlife experience in our town.

The venue will combine multiple entertainment spaces, each with its own strong identity and atmosphere, while still feeling like part of one overall destination. I am looking for someone who can take the concepts below and turn them into a cohesive, visually impressive, practical, and realistic venue design.

The Three Main Areas
1. Main Nightclub / Tiki Bar

The main entertainment area will have a strong tiki-inspired tropical nightlife theme, but I do not want it to feel like a basic or generic tiki bar.

This will be the main party and nightclub area and will include:

DJ booth
Dance floor
A raised or false-floor DJ area
Feature lighting
Immersive décor
Tropical/tiki-inspired design elements
Interesting textures and materials
Strong visual focal points
Seating and social areas
A design that feels energetic and exciting at night

The DJ area should be a major visual feature of the venue. I want creative ideas for making the DJ booth and surrounding false floor feel unique and immersive.

Lighting will be extremely important. The space needs to transform at night and create a high-energy atmosphere that encourages people to stay, socialise, dance, and return.

2. Barcade / Retro Arcade Area

The second area will be a dedicated barcade, inspired by venues such as NQ64 in England.

This area should combine a retro arcade with a modern nightlife environment.

It will include a mixture of:

Classic arcade machines
Racing machines
Punching/boxing machine
Basketball arcade machines
UV or neon pool table
Other interactive arcade games
Retro gaming-inspired décor
Neon and UV lighting
Its own separate bar
Seating and social spaces

This area will not have a DJ. Instead, it will have its own carefully designed music and atmosphere that fits the arcade/bar environment.

I want this space to feel immersive, nostalgic, colourful, slightly chaotic, and highly visual. It should be somewhere people want to explore, take photos, play games, and spend several hours.

The design should feel inspired by retro gaming and neon nightlife, rather than looking like a standard family arcade.

3. Outdoor Smokers Area – Classic Western Theme

The outdoor smokers area will have a completely different atmosphere.

The concept is a classic Western / old saloon / frontier-inspired environment.

I would like to incorporate:

Rustic timber and aged wood
Railway-inspired materials and features
Old Western design elements
Vintage signage
Metal and industrial details
Saloon-style features
Interesting textures and authentic-looking materials
Feature seating and social areas
Lighting that creates atmosphere at night

The goal is to make the smokers area feel like a destination itself, rather than simply an outdoor area where people go to smoke.

I am open to creative interpretations of the Western theme. It does not need to look like a movie set, but it should have a strong identity and plenty of interesting details.

What I Need From the Designer

I am looking for someone who can help take this overall vision and develop it into a complete venue concept.

Ideally, the project would include:

Overall venue concept and design direction
Space planning and layout suggestions
Interior design for all three themed areas
2D floor plan concepts
3D visualisations and renders
Lighting concepts
Bar designs
DJ booth and false-floor concept
Seating and furniture concepts
Materials, finishes, and colour palettes
Feature walls, signage, décor, and visual focal points
Suggestions for making each area immersive and memorable

I can provide:

Building dimensions
Existing floor plans
Photos of the building
Inspiration images
Measurements
Equipment and furniture requirements
Further details about the business and target customer
What I Am Looking For

I am particularly interested in designers who have experience with one or more of the following:

3D architectural visualisation

Please include examples of previous work, particularly any projects involving nightlife, hospitality, entertainment, immersive spaces, or themed environments.

This project requires someone who is highly creative but also understands practical layout, customer flow, capacity, seating, bar operations, and how a venue needs to function in real life.

I am open to working collaboratively and refining the concept throughout the project. I have a clear overall vision but am also looking for someone who can bring their own creative ideas and help take the venue to a level I may not have considered.
