IT PROJECT MANAGER — LOW VOLTAGE, NETWORKING, WIRELESS, OSP & FIBER
TNI is hiring one hands-on IT Project Manager to help bring in new network/low-voltage projects, estimate them accurately and manage them through profitable delivery. You will also own back-office IT and practical automation, working closely with our technical ISO/QMS lead. These are two hires total; our Microsoft and back-office advertisements feed this same IT Project Manager position.
SALARY AND SCHEDULE — CONFIRM BEFORE APPLYING
Fixed US$700/month for the first 60 calendar days of probation, then US$800/month from day 61. No hourly rate. Fully remote, full-time, long-term: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM New York local time, with a one-hour break (40 working hours/week), following New York daylight-saving changes. Immediate start upon selection is required; give your exact earliest start, notice period and any overlapping commitments. Any additional project-based incentive must be separately agreed; no incentive amount or calculation is promised here.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
This is an experienced, hands-on IT Project Manager position. You must have personally worked in this industry and independently owned technical and commercial decisions; general administration or help-desk experience alone is not sufficient.
• Finding and winning relevant work: personally identify prospects/opportunities, qualify requirements, develop customer/contractor relationships, prepare and follow up proposals/bids, and help convert opportunities into awarded network, wireless, OSP/fiber or low-voltage projects. Explain your own role and results. Preparing an estimate for someone else's sale is useful, but does not establish new-business ownership.
• Low-voltage, networking, wireless, outside plant (OSP) and fiber: structured copper/fiber cabling, switches, VLANs, PoE, wireless APs, racks, patch panels, MDFs/IDFs, pathways, labeling and installation testing/closeout. Understand OSI/TCP-IP fundamentals, copper versus fiber, basic Wi-Fi planning, and practical ICT design principles. Know when grounding/bonding, firestopping, capacity or site conditions require a qualified design decision. For OSP/fiber, understand route and duct/handhole planning, aerial versus underground conditions, cable and strand counts, splice/termination plans, slack, closures, material/labor quantities, testing and as-built closeout. Coordinate surveys, site access, permits and qualified design/field decisions. For wireless, understand coverage versus capacity, site-survey information, AP placement, interference, channel/power planning and validation. Describe your actual responsibilities across these areas; an RCDD certificate is helpful, not required.
• Project management and estimating: personally scope and estimate physical low-voltage/network/wireless/OSP/fiber work, prepare/check drawing takeoffs and BOMs, plan labor and equipment, coordinate vendors and field technicians, manage schedules, changes, risks, costs and customer acceptance. Software project management alone does not meet this requirement.
• Hands-on IT, configuration and automation: configure/troubleshoot network systems and personally build, debug and maintain scripts or integrations. Relevant tools include PowerShell, Python, Bash, Microsoft Graph/APIs and Power Automate. Explain testing, access, failed runs, duplicate prevention and recovery. Lists of software or training certificates alone are not sufficient.
• Bidding and contracts: personally review RFQs/RFPs, bid instructions and deadlines, SOWs, scope boundaries, assumptions/exclusions, deliverables, acceptance criteria, pricing/payment milestones and change-order requirements. Identify gaps and contractual risks, coordinate clarifications, and track obligations through delivery and closeout. Management retains final pricing, contractual commitments and signature authority.
• Commercial and financial follow-through: supplier quotes, material/labor/subcontractor/travel costs, price and margin calculations, quote assumptions/exclusions, change orders, PO/invoice matching, job-cost reconciliation, billing packages and AP/AR follow-up. Understand margin versus markup and investigate estimated-versus-actual differences. Use QuickBooks Online or comparable accounting tools and strong Excel skills.
Please apply only if you have relevant personal experience across these areas. Be clear about what you independently own and what requires another specialist. We need a named individual for the full-time role, not an undisclosed rotating team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
1. Build a useful pipeline of suitable opportunities through customer follow-up, contractor/MSP relationships, referrals and relevant bid channels. Track source, scope, next action, deadline and outcome. Explain which channels you have actually used; an existing transferable client list is not required.
2. Qualify the scope, review plans/site information, ask technical questions, prepare takeoffs/BOMs, compare supplier quotes and build costed proposals. Work with management on price, bid/no-bid decisions, commitments and final approvals.
3. Manage awarded projects from PO/SOW through materials, technician/subcontractor scheduling, site access, logistics, progress, changes, test evidence, punch lists and customer acceptance. Track profitability and billing readiness.
4. Support switches, VLANs, connectivity and Microsoft 365/SharePoint operations. Maintain approved configuration records, test changes, retain usable backups and recovery instructions, and escalate work outside your competence.
5. Automate practical project and ISO workflows with the ISO lead: controlled documents, approvals, reminders, evidence and exceptions. The ISO lead owns QMS requirements and audit decisions; you own implementation and support. Agree handoffs, test with the actual user and cross-train each other.
6. Support ERP and warehouse/inventory operations, including receiving, serial/asset tracking, job allocation, transfers, dispatch, returns and reconciliation. Direct ERP/warehouse experience, including telecom operations, is highly desired; distinguish actual experience from areas you would need to learn.
TNI delivers network infrastructure and low-voltage work for U.S. commercial and government customers. Fluent professional English, dependable follow-up, accurate records, reliable equipment/internet and a backup connectivity/power plan are required. Relevant networking, BICSI, Microsoft and project-management credentials are useful and will be checked; certifications do not replace demonstrated work.
HOW TO APPLY
Begin with “TNI PROJECT GROWTH” and send your dated CV plus a brief account of one relevant network, low-voltage, wireless or OSP/fiber project you helped find, win, estimate and deliver. State how the opportunity originated, what you personally did, the approximate project value if shareable, the estimate/cost-control method, the bid and contract obligations you managed, any change order, and the outcome. If different examples cover different stages, say so. Also describe one script or workflow you personally maintained and your ERP/inventory and accounting responsibilities.
Explicitly confirm acceptance of the duties, US$700/month for the first 60 days then US$800/month from day 61, no hourly rate, and the complete New York schedule. Include earliest start and commitments.
A short factual summary is enough; no new unpaid project is requested. Do not share confidential client records, access credentials or identification documents. Shortlisted candidates will discuss their own work and complete a bounded simulated practical. Interviews are arranged only after both sides confirm the exact date, time and duration.
