I have completed a manuscript of a sequel to A Christmas Carol — a story I have loved since childhood. I think your illustrative vision might be a good fit for my novella, Ebenezer Transformed: Scrooge After A Christmas Carol. Faithful to the Dickens classic, it continues a story of redemption, enchantment, and humor. Surprises lurk around the bend of a cobblestone street or an outing to the English countryside. I believe it is an intimate story that will earn the reader's affection, empathy, and laughter.
I imagine a book cover and 6-8 illustrations, half of them half page and half full page black and white, except the cover (which could be one of the inside illustrations) in color. I am flexible about all of this. Illustrations might include story characters, city scenes, and country landscapes. A couple of the illustrations may have a dreamlike or surreal quality. Illustrators of note were John Leech, (1843) who illustrated the original text and Arthur Rackham (1915) provide sample art work, but the illustrator being commissioned can have a different vision as long as it is a good fit for the setting. Approximate timeline for completion is one to three months. This book will likely be published independently.
If this sounds like a project you would be interested in discussing, I would be happy to discuss further. Attached is a summary of scenes that might lend themselves to illustration.
Thanks for your kind consideration,
Jeff
