Mystery Thriller Fiction Cover Design

I have a fiction manuscript in the mystery/thriller space and now need a striking cover that instantly sets the right mood. The visual direction is important: dark colours with subtle shadowy figures, a single central protagonist, and hints of abstract patterns that suggest tension without giving away the plot.

Here’s how I picture the hand-off:

• A print-ready front-spine-back layout (KDP paperback, 6"×9", 300 dpi, with bleed)
• A matching ebook cover (JPEG, 72 dpi, Amazon-ready)
• Source file (PSD or layered AI) so I can tweak text later if needed

Acceptance criteria
• Title and author name clearly legible in thumbnail size
• Overall tone reads unmistakably as mystery/thriller—no bright or playful palette
• Visual balance between the lone protagonist and background abstract elements so neither overwhelms the other

If you’re comfortable working in Photoshop or Illustrator and enjoy crafting atmospheric covers, I’d love to see a quick concept or portfolio piece that shows you can blend shadows, minimal figures, and abstract texture effectively. I have a cover concept from an earlier book that I want to match
