ABOUT THE WHISPERING TRAILS
The Whispering Trails is a motorcycle expedition company based in Ciudad Vieja, near Antigua, Guatemala. We lead small groups through volcanic landscapes, mountain trails, forests and remote communities on KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas enduro motorcycles.
Our videos should communicate the pleasure of off-road riding alongside the landscapes, people and experiences that make discovering Guatemala special.

THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a freelance video editor for a five-month collaboration with a total contract value of US$2,500, divided into five monthly milestones of US$500 against agreed deliverables.
We provide the footage, brand assets, key messages and editorial direction. You will edit videos for our Instagram and Facebook pages and our Meta and Google/YouTube advertising campaigns.
This is a remote editing assignment. Filming, posting content, social account management, media buying and campaign management are outside the scope.
MONTHLY DELIVERABLES
Each month:
• Three original social videos, approximately 15–40 seconds each, delivered in vertical 9:16 format for Instagram and Facebook.
• One original advertising video, approximately 25–30 seconds, delivered in vertical 9:16 and horizontal 16:9 formats.
• One short advertising version, approximately 10–15 seconds, derived from that month’s advertising video and delivered in both formats.
This represents four original edits plus one short version each month, delivered as seven MP4 files across the specified formats.
Across five months: 20 original edits plus five short advertising versions. Format adaptations are included and do not count as additional original edits.
The monthly mix may be adjusted by mutual agreement, for example to prioritize advertising videos at launch, while maintaining an equivalent workload.
EDITING WORK INCLUDED
• Reviewing supplied footage and selecting suitable moments.
• Creating a clear sequence, strong opening and purposeful pacing.
• Basic colour correction, audio balancing and appropriate sound design.
• Music licensed for our organic social content and paid advertising use.
• Adding supplied text, logos, calls to action and subtitles where required.
• Carefully reframing footage for each agreed aspect ratio.
• One consolidated round of revisions per original video, with corresponding changes applied to its agreed adaptations.
• Delivery of approved, high-quality MP4 files.
Please identify any additional costs or exclusions in your proposal. Additional formats, language versions or work beyond the agreed scope require a separate quotation and approval.
STYLE AND FOOTAGE
We want adventure, authentic riding and discovery. We value storytelling, atmosphere and a feel for the riding experience, with editing that brings out what is distinctive about our trips.
You should be comfortable combining action-camera, drone and smartphone footage, including horizontal footage requiring careful adaptation for vertical viewing.
We have prepared a selection of footage for the paid test and will continue supplying material during the collaboration. We welcome practical suggestions about additional shots that would improve future edits.
WORKFLOW
At the start of each month, we will agree on subjects, messages and delivery dates. Deliveries should be spread across the month to support approximately one social publication per week, including the advertising video when appropriate.
Clear communication, reliable deadlines and an organized review process are essential.
HOW TO APPLY

1. Two or three relevant portfolio examples, preferably involving travel, motorcycles, outdoor activities or adventure.
2. Your personal role in each example.
3. A brief explanation of how you would approach our footage.
4. Confirmation that you can deliver the stated scope for US$500 per month for five months.
5. Your availability, usual turnaround times and any questions or exclusions.
6. Whether editable project files are included.
SELECTION AND PAID TEST
We will select two finalists based on their portfolios and proposals. Each finalist will receive the same footage and brief to create one approximately 30-second video in one specified format.
Each finalist will be paid US$150 for this test through a separate paid project on Freelancer.com, with a funded milestone agreed before work begins. No unpaid custom sample is required.
The test payments are separate from the US$2,500 collaboration budget. The selected editor will be offered the five-month contract.
We will assess storytelling, understanding of our brand, editing quality, communication and reliability.
BUDGET AND USAGE RIGHTS
US$2,500 total: five monthly milestones of US$500.
These are gross contract amounts before any platform deductions charged to the freelancer. Client-side platform fees are paid separately by us.
Music and other third-party assets must be licensed for the agreed organic and paid advertising use. Please provide licence details and disclose any usage restrictions.
Rights to approved final edits will transfer to The Whispering Trails upon payment, subject to third-party licence terms.
