Four mother & daughter black and white portraits
Please create four black and white artworks of mother and daughter, each clearly representing one of four ethnicities; Far Eastern, Asian Sub-continent, African and Caucasian.
To complete this project, you will need to be skilled at hand drawing and not reliant on CGI.
The works should be styled with reference to the two woodcut examples provided, but the orientation of the two to one another can vary as illustrated in the collage of photographs provided.
Your original work will not be a copy of what has been provided. Each image created will look like they belong to a set of four. The treatment of faces, clothing, and surrounding elements if any, are to reflect their culture where possible.
You will be creating each artwork to ultimately deliver as a portrait-format digital master at:
2160 × 3840 pixels; Aspect ratio: 9:16
Please maintain the portrait orientation and do not crop the finished artwork to landscape.
The artwork should be created at the highest practical quality available within this format. Work in RGB / sRGB for the final digital files.
Composition
The four images should have broadly consistent framing and visual scale so that they work as a sequence when the images change from page to page.
The images will primarily be displayed as portrait artwork on a website, with text positioned alongside the image on larger screens.
The images may also be displayed on large exhibition or presentation screens whose exact dimensions and aspect ratios will vary.
For this reason:
• Keep the principal subjects comfortably within the image rather than close to the edges.
• Avoid placing important facial features or other essential details immediately against the edge of the frame. Allow a modest amount of visual breathing room around the subjects.
• The composition should remain effective when the image is displayed somewhat smaller or cropped modestly to accommodate different screens.
• Do not design important content into the extreme top, bottom, left or right edges.
Final Digital master summary
Please supply the finished artwork as:
2160 × 3840 px
9:16 portrait
RGB / sRGB
High-quality TIFF or PNG master
A high-quality JPEG/WebP derivative can subsequently be produced for web use; please do not optimise or heavily compress the master artwork.
