Mortgage Underwriter
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Underwriter to join our team. As an Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and assessing loan applications to determine their creditworthiness and adherence to lending guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Manage an underwriting pipeline for initial, condition review, and final review of loans.
Experience with DSCR, Conventional, FHA, VA, and HELOC loan applications and documentation, ensuring adherence to company, federal, agency, and investor guidelines.
Assist with underwriting questions, scenarios, and challenges.
Assess customers' loan-to-value ratio, debt-to-income ratio, credit report, application details, income, assets, and down payment sources to detect potential fraud or misrepresentation.
Demonstrate proficiency in analyzing various types of tax returns.
Validate accuracy between company systems and Automated Underwriting System (AUS).
Uphold loan quality and accuracy standards with each transaction.
Evaluate appraisals to confirm alignment with secondary market, investor, and company criteria.
Analyze condo documents to ensure it aligns with approval guidelines.
Conduct a thorough analysis of title work to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Experience in self-employment income calculations
Strong background in DSCR loans
Skills and Requirements:
DE (Direct Endorsement) and VA Certifications preferred
Knowledge of credit scoring and risk assessment
Excellent customer service skills
Proficiency in underwriting software and tools
Proven ability to collaborate and problem-solve with other mortgage partners
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Strong planning and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and in a team
Ability to multitask and be comfortable working at a fast pace
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
