We are looking for an experienced full-stack developer to modernize an existing Java-based business application that includes a desktop web application and an iOS mobile application.
The current application uses Java, Google Web Toolkit (GWT), Apache Tomcat, MariaDB/MySQL, and Cordova. It has been operational for over 10 years and needs to be rebuilt using modern technologies while retaining its existing functionality and business logic.
The application manages customer service cases, technician assignments, equipment rentals, time tracking, consumables, signatures, photos, reporting, and invoicing. It also integrates with Salesforce and NetSuite.
Key requirements:
- Rebuild the backend, preferably using Java Spring Boot and REST APIs.
- Develop a modern web interface using React, Angular, or a comparable framework.
- Modernize the iOS mobile application.
- Maintain full offline functionality for technicians, including local data storage and synchronization when internet connectivity returns.
- Preserve and update existing Salesforce and NetSuite integrations.
- Work with existing MariaDB/MySQL databases.
- Migrate existing business logic and workflows.
- Handle testing, deployment, documentation, and ongoing technical support.
We need a developer who has experience modernizing legacy enterprise applications, not just building websites.
Strong Java, Spring Boot, SQL, mobile development, Git, and Linux skills are required. Experience with GWT migration, Cordova, offline synchronization, and Salesforce APIs is preferred.
The developer should have good English communication skills and be available for discussions and support between 10 AM and 6 PM Central Time.
We prefer an hourly engagement, starting with an assessment of the existing application and a proposed modernization approach.
