I’m building a lightweight CapCut-inspired video editor that runs seamlessly on both iOS and Android. The core objective is to let users import clips, apply a range of modern effects and filters in real-time, preview the results instantly, then export their finished video without noticeable lag or quality loss.
Key requirements
• Platforms: A single codebase that deploys to iOS and Android. Feel free to suggest Flutter, React Native, Kotlin Multiplatform, or any stack you’re comfortable proving production-ready.
• Features: Effects and filters are the star of the show—think color LUTs, text overlays, glitch transitions, speed ramps, etc. No trimming, multi-track timelines, or audio studio complexity is needed for this first release.
• UI: The interface must stay simple and clean—minimal taps to reach every effect, uncluttered controls, and an intuitive preview window.
• Performance: Smooth scrubbing on devices as old as iPhone 11 and mid-range Androids. Hardware acceleration should be leveraged wherever available.
• Deliverables: 1) Full source code with comments, 2) compiled beta builds for TestFlight and Google Play Internal Testing, 3) a concise setup README, and 4) a short screen-capture demo proving all effects work end-to-end.
Acceptance criteria
The app passes store guidelines, exports 1080p H.264 without crashes, and every effect applied in the preview matches the final render within one frame’s accuracy.
If you’ve shipped mobile media apps before and can hit these marks, I’m ready to get started right away.
