We are looking for an experienced Fashion Technical Designer / Tech Pack Designer to create detailed, production-ready tech packs for women's apparel.
The designs will include categories such as western dresses, tunic tops, kurtis and co-ord sets.
We will provide:
Garment design/reference images
Fabric images/details
Intended garment category and overall fit
Colour requirements
Size range
Any specific design or construction requirements available
The freelancer is expected to translate the design into a technically accurate tech pack that can be shared directly with a garment manufacturer for sample development.
Scope of Work – Per Garment
TECHNICAL FLAT SKETCHES
Detailed front flat
Detailed back flat
Side/detail views where required
Accurate representation of neckline, sleeves, seams, darts, panels, pockets, closures, slits, hems, etc.
Enlarged construction/detail sketches wherever required
GARMENT CONSTRUCTION DETAILS
Clearly specify:
Seam construction
Stitch types
Seam allowance where applicable
Hem construction
Neck finishing
Sleeve/cuff finishing
Plackets
Zippers/buttons/hooks and other closures
Pocket construction
Facing/interfacing/lining requirements
Top-stitching
Special finishing instructions
The factory should be able to understand how the garment is intended to be constructed without relying only on the reference photograph.
BILL OF MATERIALS (BOM)
Prepare a detailed BOM covering:
Main fabric
Contrast/secondary fabric
Lining
Interlining/interfacing
Thread
Buttons
Zippers
Hooks/snaps
Elastic
Other trims
Main brand label
Size label
Care/content label
Hangtag where applicable
Include specifications, quantities/consumption and placement wherever applicable.
MEASUREMENT SPECIFICATION / POM
Define all relevant Points of Measurement (POM)
Provide illustrated POM diagram
Create base-size garment measurement specification
Clearly state how each measurement should be taken
Include measurement tolerances
SIZE GRADING
Prepare graded garment specifications for:
S / M / L / XL / XXL
Clearly show grade increments between sizes.
Measurements and grading should be appropriate for the garment silhouette and intended fit rather than simply applying generic increments.
FABRIC & COLOUR SPECIFICATION
Document:
Fabric type/composition based on information provided
Fabric weight/GSM where provided
Fabric width where relevant
Colour
Colour/Pantone reference where applicable
Fabric direction/grain
Print direction where applicable
PRINT / EMBROIDERY / MOTIF DETAILS – WHERE APPLICABLE
Specify:
Artwork dimensions
Placement
Distance from reference points/seams
Repeat/orientation
Technique where known
TRIMS & LABEL PLACEMENT
Specify dimensions, type, colour and exact placement of:
Buttons
Zippers
Hooks/snaps
Main label
Size label
Care label
Hangtag
Other trims
SAMPLE / FIT COMMENTS
Provide a structured page/template that can subsequently be used to record:
Proto sample comments
Fit corrections
Measurement deviations
Construction changes
Revision history
FINAL DELIVERABLES
For each style, provide:
Complete factory-ready Tech Pack in PDF
Editable source file (Adobe Illustrator / Excel or equivalent agreed format)
High-resolution technical flat drawings
Measurement/specification sheet
BOM
Grading sheet
The files should be clearly organized and suitable for sending directly to a garment manufacturer.
Important Requirement
If any design or construction information is unclear from the reference provided, the freelancer must identify the ambiguity and ask for clarification or document the proposed assumption before finalising the tech pack.
Please do not silently make major design, fit or construction assumptions.
Skills Required
We are specifically looking for someone with experience in:

Factory/manufacturer communication
Experience preparing tech packs that have actually been used by garment factories is strongly preferred.
