Research Content Writer needed on Industrial Applications & Future Trends of Metal Additive Manufacturing

Project Description

We are seeking an experienced academic researcher/writer with a strong research background in Metal Additive Manufacturing (Metal AM) to assist in developing a high-quality content.

focus particularly on the industrial deployment, emerging applications, challenges, and future directions of metal additive manufacturing, with substantial attention to high-value sectors such as aerospace and space, automotive, energy, medical, defense, tooling, and advanced industrial manufacturing. This is not a general content-writing job. We require someone with a genuine academic/research background who can critically synthesize recent peer-reviewed literature, technical reports, industrial developments, and credible discussions concerning the future evolution of metal AM.

Develop a well-structured and technically rigorous content, must be completely original and free from plagiarism. The completed work will be checked using plagiarism-detection software. Expected tasks include:

Conducting a comprehensive literature review using recent peer-reviewed journal papers, particularly review and perspective papers from approximately 2021–2026, together with important foundational references where necessary.
Reviewing recent developments in industrial metal additive manufacturing, including LPBF/SLM, DED, binder jetting, WAAM and other relevant metallic AM technologies.
Compiling and critically comparing industrial applications across aerospace/space, automotive, biomedical, energy, defense, tooling and related high-value manufacturing sectors.
Examining the transition from laboratory demonstrations and prototyping toward qualified, repeatable and economically viable industrial production.
Discussing design freedom, lightweighting, part consolidation, topology/lattice structures, repair, customization and functional integration.
Covering major industrial barriers including process repeatability, qualification, certification, standards, surface finish, post-processing, defects, inspection, material traceability, production rate, cost and scalability.
Addressing human factors, workforce requirements, AM skills, digital manufacturing knowledge and organizational adoption.
Discussing relevant policy, standardization, certification and supply-chain considerations.
Investigating recent conference discussions, industrial forums, workshops, technical panels, expert talks, industry roadmaps and credible professional sources to identify emerging viewpoints on the future of metal AM.
Developing a strong Future Trends and Outlook section covering topics such as AI/ML-assisted AM, autonomous manufacturing, in-situ monitoring, closed-loop control, digital twins, physics-informed models, multi-material AM, functionally graded materials, qualification by data, distributed manufacturing, sustainability and digital product passports.
Compiling quantitative data from reliable publications where appropriate and presenting comparisons through original tables and newly prepared figures.
All figures must be redrawn/recreated rather than copied directly from published sources. Appropriate citations must still be provided for the underlying information/data.
Maintaining accurate citations and providing complete bibliographic information, preferably including DOIs wherever available.

Every technical statement, numerical value, trend, comparison or industrial claim must be supported by an appropriate and verifiable source where required. Fabricated references, unverifiable citations, invented DOIs or unsupported numerical data will result in rejection of the work.

Candidates should ideally have a PhD, PhD candidature, postdoctoral experience, or substantial research experience in one or more of the following areas: additive manufacturing, metal AM, materials science, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace manufacturing, industrial engineering or a closely related discipline. A strong publication record in Scopus/Web of Science-indexed journals will be highly preferred. Previous experience writing review papers, book chapters or state-of-the-art literature reviews is particularly valuable.
