I’ve advanced my concept to the detailed-design phase and now need a seasoned mechanical engineer to turn that work into production-ready documentation. The core task is product design, not system optimisation or thermal analysis, so your focus will be on refining geometry, selecting materials, checking tolerances, and validating performance.
My expected hand-off package is clear:
• 3D CAD models ready for manufacturing (STEP plus native SolidWorks/Inventor/Creo files)
• Fully dimensioned technical drawings that meet ISO or ASME standards, including GD&T call-outs and a concise BOM
• Simulation reports that demonstrate structural integrity and functional performance under anticipated loads, delivered as both native FEA files and a short PDF summary
I will supply existing sketches, preliminary calculations, and any component specifications I’ve gathered so you can build on the current work rather than starting from scratch. You’re free to choose the CAD and FEA tools you’re most comfortable with, provided the final files open cleanly in mainstream software and can be shared with vendors without conversion issues.
Acceptance criteria: every drawing must reference the matching CAD revision; simulations must reference the exact material cards used; and all files should be organised in a clear folder structure so downstream teams can locate anything in seconds.
If you’re confident in detailed mechanical product design and can commit to iterative feedback rounds, I’d like to hear how you’d approach this and see examples of similar deliverables you’ve completed.
