CAD Designer
About the role
I'm looking for a CAD designer to help with 3D modeling of plastic parts intended for mass production. Work will involve design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) for plastic manufacturing processes such as injection moulding, vacuum casting, and 3D printing. This is an entry-level role — no professional experience needed, but you should be willing to learn manufacturing-aware design principles.
What you'll do
Create 3D CAD models of plastic parts from briefs, sketches, or reference images
Apply DFMA principles for plastic mass production (wall thickness, draft angles, ribs, tolerances, etc.)
Design parts suited to plastic manufacturing processes (injection moulding, vacuum casting, 3D printing)
Build clean models with guidance
Make revisions based on feedback
Export files as needed (STEP / STL / drawings)
What I'm looking for
Some basic CAD ability (any software — courses, personal projects, or self-taught all fine)
Interest in or awareness of design for plastic manufacturing (DFMA)
Ability to work independently and manage your own time once briefed
Willingness to learn and take direction
Attention to detail and reliability
Clear communication in English
Desirable (not required)
Fusion 360 experience
Knowledge of plastic manufacturing design rules (injection moulding, vacuum casting, 3D printing)
Any personal or student CAD projects to show
Basic understanding of parametric modeling
Rate & commitment
$5/hour
6–8 hours per day, roughly full-time
~4 month project with potential to extend
Deliverables
3D models and exports as required (STEP / STL / drawings)
