Mathematical Modelling Mentoring for Pre-University Student

am a pre-university student currently studying Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and I am looking for an experienced mathematics researcher or PhD holder to mentor me through an independent research project in Applied Mathematics, particularly Mathematical Modelling.

The mentorship will be conducted online. I am hoping to work with someone who has genuine research experience and can guide me through the process of developing and completing a meaningful research project before I enter university.

I am not looking for someone to write or complete the research for me. I want to conduct the research myself while receiving academic guidance, feedback and direction from an experienced researcher. I also want to be able to understand and explain every part of the final project myself.

What I Need Help With

The mentor would ideally guide me through:

* Identifying a suitable research area and research question
* Narrowing the topic into a realistic but academically meaningful project
* Conducting and understanding a literature review
* Developing an appropriate mathematical model and methodology
* Learning any mathematical techniques required for the project
* Analysing results and evaluating the model
* Reviewing my work and providing constructive academic feedback
* Structuring and improving the final research report
* Discussing possible extensions and limitations of the research

I am particularly interested in research that combines applied mathematics with real-world or physical problems, although I am open to the mentor’s suggestions regarding a suitable research direction.

Ideal Mentor

I would strongly prefer someone who:

* Holds a PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field, or is an experienced mathematics researcher
* Has experience conducting academic research
* Has published research papers or has a strong research background
* Has experience mentoring or supervising students
* Has expertise in Applied Mathematics / Mathematical Modelling
* Can explain advanced mathematical concepts clearly to a motivated pre-university student
* Is able to provide regular online guidance over the next 1–2 months
