We're Hiring: Maritime Operations Data Analyst – Deck Officer Experience
We are looking for two strong candidates with actual deck-side seafaring experience who are looking to transition into a stable, remote, shore-based role. The ideal candidates are former Second Officers, Third Officers, or Chief Officers with hands-on maritime experience and strong knowledge of navigation and voyage operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and validate maritime operational data using practical deck-side seafaring experience.
Review vessel positions, AIS information, routes, ports, ETA, and distance calculations.
Assess voyage and passage planning information for accuracy and consistency.
Review maritime information involving laycan, vessel types, cargo suitability, and basic voyage calculations.
Identify inaccurate, inconsistent, or illogical AI-generated maritime data.
Apply practical knowledge of vessel operations and navigation to determine whether data is realistic and operationally sound.
Communicate findings clearly and accurately.
Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when reviewing maritime data.
Qualifications:
Graduate of Marine Transportation.
Must have actual sea-going experience in the deck department.
Former or current Second Officers, Third Officers, or Chief Officers are strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of navigation, voyage planning, and passage planning.
Familiarity with vessel positions, AIS, routes, ports, ETA, and distance calculations.
Understanding of laycan, vessel types, cargo suitability, and basic voyage calculations.
Ability to identify inaccurate or illogical AI-generated maritime information.
Strong communication and computer skills.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability.
Preferred Qualifications:
Second Officer experience, particularly with navigation and passage planning responsibilities.
Practical experience with vessel navigation and voyage planning.
Experience with AIS, vessel positions, routes, and port information.
Experience reviewing, validating, or analyzing maritime data.
