I need a Karachi-based professional We are HV Testing and Design Ltd, a UK company preparing to sell marble, onyx and natural-stone homeware on Amazon EU.
We need an experienced freelancer based in Karachi, Pakistan, to coordinate with our factory, collect representative product samples, arrange appropriate laboratory testing, and obtain genuine reports for review by our EU Authorised Representative, Westwood Sourcing.
Our GPSR documentation and product dossier will be provided. The production supplier is Pak Arts Pvt Ltd; the collection address and factory contact will be supplied to the selected freelancer.
Product scope
The identified range includes:
- Vases, bookends, coasters and phone holders.
- Paperweights and decorative figurines, including apple, dice, duck, elephant, frog, pyramid and turtle designs.
- Bowls and fruit dishes.
- Onyx goblets.
- Mortar-and-pestle sets.
- Lidded pot on tray.
- Ashtrays.
- Marble chess set and storage case.
The attached general GPSR document mentions additional product categories. Only models confirmed in the final product/sample schedule are included in this project.
Requirements raised by Westwood
1. Materials and components
Obtain supporting specifications/documentation for the actual stone materials, coatings, adhesives and other components, including relevant test reports where available.
Identify, where applicable:
- Stone type and material composition.
- Coatings, sealants, dyes and resin repairs.
- Adhesives, metal fittings and protective base pads.
- Dice-pip fillings and chess-case materials.
Record confirmation where a treatment or component is absent. Identify which existing supplier documents can be used and which additional laboratory assessments are necessary.
2. Food-contact products
Bowls, goblets, mortar-and-pestle sets and potentially the lidded pot require evidence supporting compliance with Regulation (EC) 1935/2004.
Westwood has stated that manufacturer declarations alone are insufficient. The laboratory must propose appropriate tests and assessment criteria for the actual materials, finishes and intended uses, including relevant destination-country requirements.
3. Ashtrays
Obtain evidence supporting suitability for contact with hot ash and cigarette embers, including an appropriate assessment of thermal cracking and other relevant hazards. Agree the test procedure and acceptance criteria with the laboratory and Westwood before testing.
4. Chess set and dice
Help document the intended age group, marketing and foreseeable use by children. Coordinate a competent classification assessment where needed. Do not assume that “not a toy” wording resolves classification.
Your responsibilities
1. Review our documentation and prepare a product-by-product evidence-gap and testing schedule.
2. Obtain itemised quotations from suitable laboratories, such as SGS Pakistan and Intertek Pakistan, or another laboratory accepted by Westwood.
3. Confirm each laboratory’s relevant capability and accreditation scope, including any subcontracted testing.
4. Submit the proposed methods, samples, grouping rationale and assessment criteria for our approval and Westwood’s review before incurring testing costs.
5. Arrange sample collection from the Karachi factory, subject to our authorisation.
6. Photograph and label samples, recording model/SKU/ASIN, material, colour, finish, batch and quantity.
7. Deliver samples to the agreed laboratory and retain submission forms and receipts.
8. Follow up testing, resolve laboratory queries and obtain complete, authentic reports.
9. Provide a final product-by-product evidence register showing completed work, limitations and outstanding requirements.
Required deliverables
- Product/sample register with photographs and traceability.
- Supplier material and component specifications.
- Approved testing plan and itemised laboratory quotations.
- Sample collection and laboratory submission receipts.
- Original laboratory-issued PDF reports, including measured results, methods, test conditions, applicable criteria and authorised approval.
- Certificates or declarations only where applicable and genuinely issued.
- Laboratory invoices and a final evidence-gap summary suitable for Westwood’s review.
Important conditions
We require genuine, product-specific evidence. Generic purchased certificates, altered reports, fabricated results or reports for unrelated products are unacceptable.
This project does not require a blanket “GPSR certificate” or CE certificate for the whole range. Testing scope must match each product’s actual use and risks. Westwood will determine acceptance under its representation service; Amazon listing approval is not guaranteed by laboratory testing alone.
Preferred freelancer
- Based in Karachi and able to visit the factory and laboratories.
- Experience with EU consumer-product compliance and food-contact testing.
- Familiarity with natural stone, homeware and material testing.
- Strong English communication and organised recordkeeping.
Please include in your proposal
- Relevant experience and examples of similar projects.
- Your Karachi location and availability.
- Proposed laboratories and coordination approach.
- Your service fee, collection/transport charges and estimated timeline.
- Laboratory fees listed separately, with any markup disclosed.
