Magento 1.9 to Magento 2 Migration – Cursor / AI-Assisted Developer Required

We are seeking an experienced Magento developer to migrate our existing production Magento 1.9 ecommerce store to the latest stable Magento 2 version.

**Mandatory: You must actively use AI development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code or equivalent.** We want a developer who uses these tools to analyse legacy code, migrate customisations, accelerate development, debug and test. Traditional development without AI coding tools is not of interest and we expect the project rates to reflect this.

### Existing Environment
- Magento Community 1.9 with customisations and extensions
- Odoo 10 Community with Webkul Magento–Odoo Bridge
- Microsoft 365 email
- Securepay payment gateway (Now FatZebra)
- Established customer, product and order database. We only require the product database to be retained carefully. We do not use the customer and order database on odoo on a day to day basis, it is primarily used for inventory management.

Existing hosting – Debian 9 VM server on site. We want to start a brand new VM because Debian 9 is obselete.

### Scope of Work

**1. Magento Migration**
- Install and configure Magento 2
- Migrate products, categories, images and settings only
- Preserve existing SEO URLs and redirects
- Migrate or replace existing extensions
- Preserve or upgrade existing website functionality

**2. Customisations – Essential**

All existing custom functionality must be audited and migrated or recreated in Magento 2.

Particularly important is our **Zebra barcode/label printing functionality**, which must continue working with our existing hardware and workflows.

We prefer to upgrade Other customisations with equivalent functionality.

**3. Odoo Integration**

Our Odoo usage is relatively simple:
- Import products from eBay into Odoo
- Export products from Odoo to Magento
- Basic inventory reference management

Importantly, We do not use Odoo for order processing, accounting or fulfilment.

Existing Magento stock synchronisation is non-functional.

We are want to replace the Webkul connector or simplifying the integration as a better solution exists.

**6. Theme**

We do not require a major redesign. Recommend a suitable Magento 2 theme, including whether Hyvä would be worthwhile.

- Audit existing Magento code, extensions and customisations
- Recommend the simplest reliable migration architecture
- Build and test the replacement website on staging
- Preserve all agreed existing functionality
- Perform final data synchronisation before launch
- Minimise downtime
- Provide documentation and 30 days of post-launch bug fixes

### Developer Requirements

- Proven Magento 1 to Magento 2 migration experience
- Strong PHP and Magento 2 skills
- Experience migrating custom Magento modules
- **Demonstrated professional use of Cursor, Claude Code or similar AI coding tools**
- Experience with production ecommerce environments
- Odoo integration experience preferred
