Luxury Jewelry Photo Retoucher & Photoshop Specialist – Ongoing Freelance Work
We are looking for an experienced Photoshop specialist / high-end jewelry photo retoucher to support the ongoing development of a luxury fine jewelry website.
This is intended to become a long-term freelance relationship, with work increasing over the coming months as our product photography, collections and website content continue to develop.
Our jewelry will primarily be photographed in-house using professional jewelry photography equipment, including the GemLightbox Max. We are looking for someone who can take these high-resolution product images and bring them to a polished, luxury e-commerce standard.
The quality benchmark is extremely important. We want clean, sophisticated and realistic imagery comparable to established luxury jewelry brands — not heavily filtered or artificial-looking retouching.
The work will include:
High-end jewelry photo retouching
Dust, scratches and minor imperfection removal
Cleaning and refining gold, platinum and polished metal surfaces
Managing reflections and highlights
Accurate gemstone colour correction
Maintaining natural gemstone characteristics, facets and inclusions
Background removal/replacement and consistent backgrounds
Natural shadow creation and refinement
Colour and exposure matching across complete collections
Preparing images for product pages, collection pages and website banners
Cropping and resizing images for different website formats
Occasional Photoshop compositing and lifestyle/marketing graphics
Jewelry retouching experience is strongly preferred.
Fine jewelry requires a different approach from general product photography. Gemstones must remain representative of the actual stone, and metals should look beautifully polished without appearing artificial.
We are particularly interested in freelancers who have previously worked with fine jewelry, diamonds, coloured gemstones, watches or other luxury products.
What we're looking for
You should have advanced Adobe Photoshop skills and a strong understanding of professional e-commerce image preparation.
Attention to detail is extremely important.
You should also be comfortable working from a defined visual standard so that images remain consistent across the entire website.
Please include before-and-after examples of your previous jewelry or luxury-product retouching work with your application.
Paid trial
Shortlisted applicants will be offered a paid test image.
We will provide the same jewelry photograph to several shortlisted candidates and assess the quality of the finished work, including:
Metal finish
Gemstone accuracy
Reflections
Background
Shadow
Overall realism
Attention to detail
The successful freelancer will then be considered for regular ongoing work as the brand and website continue to develop.
