I need a full LS-DYNA study that shows how different impact speeds alter the behaviour of a ceramic/composite target. You will build or refine a model of the ceramic front plate with a composite backing, run several velocities, and document how the response evolves.
Scope
• Set up material cards for both the ceramic (e.g., *MAT_JH-2 or similar) and the composite backing (*MAT_COMPOSITE_DAMAGE or an equivalent strain-rate sensitive option).
• Apply a projectile model, contact, and realistic boundary conditions.
• Run multiple speeds across the ballistic range and extract:
– Depth of penetration
– Cracking and fragmentation pattern
– Back-face deformation
• Post-process in LS-PrePost with plots, animations, and a concise technical note that explains the key trends.
Deliverables
1. Keyword files for every speed case, ready to rerun.
2. All result d3plots and ASCII output relevant to the three damage metrics.
3. A brief report (PDF or Word) tying the observations to impact velocity, supported by screenshots or contour plots.
Acceptance criteria
• The three damage metrics are clearly quantified for each speed.
• No fatal errors or unstable hourglass energy (>5 %) in any run.
• Results reproduce when I re-launch them on my own LS-DYNA licence.
Please include a detailed project proposal that outlines your modelling plan, the number of speed cases you recommend, expected run times, and the timeline for each step so I can gauge feasibility before we start.
