Linux VPS Web Server Setup

I have a freshly provisioned Linux-based VPS and need it turned into a fully functioning, secure web server. The machine is still on its default image, so every layer—from package updates to SSL—has to be installed and tuned.

The mandatory outcome is a stable web-hosting stack able to serve production traffic. I did not lock us into Apache, Nginx, or LiteSpeed; feel free to recommend the engine that best suits performance, ease of maintenance, and my future need to host multiple domains.

Key expectations
• Harden the OS (firewall, fail2ban or similar, automatic security updates).
• Install and configure the chosen web server software with virtual-host support.
• Enable HTTPS using a Let’s Encrypt certificate (or my existing cert).
• Set up log rotation and basic monitoring so I can see resource usage at a glance.
• Provide a concise hand-over note explaining how to add new sites, restart services, and restore from backup.

SSH access can be granted immediately after we agree on the stack. If anything critical is missing from this outline, flag it early so we can keep the deployment smooth and fast.
