LangGraph Chatbot Build & Guidance

The project starts Monday and I want to shape a production-ready chatbot from the first commit. We’ll be working in Python with FastAPI, driving the conversation logic through LangGraph—specifically its “journey” flow—so every state transition is explicit and testable.

Your role is to build the workflow with me, connect it to a PostgreSQL store for both context retrieval and state persistence, and keep everything version-controlled on GitHub. A simple yet solid CI/CD pipeline (GitHub Actions is fine) should run tests, lint, build a Docker image, and deploy automatically to a staging environment.

Clear, instructive code matters as much as working features. I need comments, well-named commits, and concise Markdown docs so I can take over confidently once the foundation is laid.

Acceptance criteria
• FastAPI service exposing a /chat endpoint powered by LangGraph
• Journey definition file plus unit tests that cover each conversational path
• Dockerfile and GitHub Actions workflow that build, test, and push to staging
• README detailing setup, environment variables, and extension points
