I want a LabVIEW-based curve tracer that mirrors the behaviour of the Digilent WaveForms instrument but runs entirely inside LabVIEW while talking to my Analog Discovery 2. The program must sweep a user-defined voltage across a device, sample the resulting current and voltage, and plot the I-V curve in real time.
Primary test focus is on resistors, yet it should also cope with simple LED measurements so the code isn’t locked to a single device type. Please make the sweep limits and step size configurable so I can adapt quickly to different resistor values or LED forward voltages.
The interface needs to feel as quick and informative as WaveForms, with one extra twist: I need reliable data-export options (CSV at a minimum) straight from the GUI so I can toss results into Excel or MATLAB without extra scripting.
Behind the scenes you’re free to choose the exact architecture, but I’m expecting a clean state-machine or QMH style solution so it remains maintainable. All communication with the AD2 should go through Digilent’s official SDK, keeping timing tight enough that the traces match what WaveForms shows when I run the same sweep on the same part.
Deliverables
• Complete LabVIEW project with documented block diagrams and an executable VI ready to run.
• Front-panel GUI supporting voltage-sweep setup, live plot, and export button.
• Proof-of-function video or short demo session showing the curve of at least one resistor and one LED captured on real AD2 hardware.
I’ll validate by running the VI on my own AD2 and cross-checking the curve against WaveForms, so functional parity is the key acceptance criterion.
