We are a hardware company and we maintain our own in-house KiCad component library. We need
one careful, detail-driven person to own that library long term and add parts on request.
This is not a PCB design job. Your job is that every part is correct and complete, so our
engineers can drop it into a schematic and a board without checking it again.
FOR EVERY COMPONENT REQUEST
- Schematic symbol: correct pin numbers, pin names, pin types, units
- Footprint verified against the datasheet: pad size, pitch, courtyard, silkscreen,
polarity, recommended land pattern
- 3D model (STEP), aligned and oriented to the footprint
- Full metadata: MPN, manufacturer, description, package, key parameters, datasheet link
- LCSC part link / order code
- Saved into our house library files, opening cleanly in KiCad 9 and 10
- Registered in our internal components database (access and instructions provided)
VALIDATION IS THE JOB
Cross-check your own work before handing it back: datasheet vs pin-out, datasheet land
pattern vs footprint, 3D model vs footprint, metadata vs the real MPN. If a datasheet is
ambiguous, or the manufacturer gives two land patterns, ask. Do not guess.
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong hands-on KiCad 9/10, Symbol Editor and Footprint Editor
- You can read mechanical drawings and recommended land patterns properly
- SMD and through-hole, fine pitch, connectors, QFN/BGA
- Comfortable with STEP 3D models
- Good written English, able to hold a conversation by chat
- Organised, consistent naming, no shortcuts
ENGAGEMENT
- Ongoing, long term, not a one-off
- Minimum 20 hours per month, maximum 60 hours per month, as needed
- Once hired you get an internal company email account, and day-to-day work runs on
Microsoft Teams chat in English
TO APPLY
1. Your hourly rate
2. KiCad library work you have already done (repo, screenshots or a sample part)
3. Your time zone and typical response time
4. Confirm you can work on Microsoft Teams and chat in English
We start with one paid test component (symbol + footprint + 3D + full data + LCSC link) of
our choosing. Clean result, and we move to the ongoing monthly arrangement.
Start your proposal with the word KICAD so we know you read this.
