Khmer Short Story Translation

I have a Khmer short story that I need rendered into clear, natural English while staying as close as possible to the author’s intended meaning. Because the piece is literary, subtle word choices, tone shifts, and cultural references matter, but the primary yard-stick for success is accuracy of meaning. I am less concerned with stylistic embellishment and more with ensuring that every line says precisely what the original says—nothing more, nothing less.

The text will be supplied as a Word document; please return the translation in the same format, preserving paragraph breaks and any italics or dialogue marks already present. If certain idioms or culturally specific references must be explained for an English-speaking reader to grasp the full sense, add a brief bracketed note or a footnote rather than re-writing the passage.
