Journal Inspired AI Activity- prime numbers
Read one (1) professional article from TEACHING CHILDREN MATHEMATICS.
Choose your article by signing up using the Sign-Up Sheet. This is an individual assignment, but
multiple students may report on the same article. Do not create additional spaces or erase someone’s
name. Once it is claimed, it is claimed and you need to make another selection.
GOAL: Use two different Artificial Intelligence (AI) platforms (ChatGPT and MagicSchool AI) to
modify the activity from the article and critique the output from each platform.
Your activity must have at least one modification. This modification is your choice. You may choose a
different grade level, specific accommodation for SPED/504 plan, or include supports for an ELL/EB
student. For example, ask AI to use paperclips instead of buttons, adapt the activity to a 6th-grade math
classroom, or incorporate a Japanese theme for my English language learners, etc.
After you have run your activity through the two AI platforms, review the work. You will reflect on
your experience in the project submission. You need to note three pros and three cons to the work.
What went well? What needed help? Was the activity too hard for the grade-level you chose? Would
you use AI to help you with classwork in the future? Do you plan to use AI as an educator?
To receive full credit, your submission must include your reflection, your conversation and output
from ChatGPT and your conversation and output from MagicSchool AI.
PURPOSE: As a future educator, you need to become versed in the technology that our students are
currently using and may use more in the future. This activity is to build your confidence in using AI
and increase your understanding of what a “quality” output is.
Your assignment has multiple parts:
1. Read your selected article.
2. Write a summary of the activity mentioned in your article.
3. Choose your modification: grade-level, accommodation, language support.
4. Feed your original summary and modification requirement into ChatGPT.
5. Request that ChatGPT create a similar activity given the modification you chose.
6. Download the conversation and modified activity.
7. Open MagicSchool AI.
8. Feed your original summary and modification requirement into MagicSchool AI.
9. Request that MagicSchool AI create a similar activity given the modification you chose.
10. Download the conversation and modified activity.
11. Compare the activites from NCTM, ChatGPT, and MagicSchool AI, then complete the
reflection on Canvas and submit the project.
