I’m looking for a Java developer to build a browser-based chat application that lets people create an account, sign in later, and have their conversations stored server-side so they can pick up right where they left off.
Core requirements
• Runs entirely in a web browser—no desktop install.
• Account creation and secure login.
• Messages are persisted in a database and reloaded for the user on every visit.
The back-end must be written in Java. I’m comfortable if you work with Servlets, Spring Boot, Jakarta EE, or another mainstream Java stack, as long as the code is clean, well-documented, and easy to deploy. Front-end choices are open; a lightweight HTML/CSS/JavaScript interface is fine as long as it stays responsive.
Deliverables
1. Complete Java source code with build script (Maven or Gradle).
2. SQL or migration scripts for the message-storage schema.
3. Brief README covering setup, configuration, and how to run the app locally.
4. A short demo video or screen-share showing the key flows: sign-up, sign-in, message send, automatic message retrieval after refresh.
I will test by compiling the project, launching it locally in a browser, registering a user, sending a message, refreshing the page, and confirming the history reappears. If that round-trip works smoothly, we’re good.
Let me know your timeline, the framework you plan to use, and any hosting assumptions you need me to clarify.
