I am looking for experienced iPhone beta testers to perform structured manual testing of METAR Trainer, an educational application for learning how to decode aviation weather reports.
The application is currently available through Apple TestFlight as version 1.0.0, Build 6. Selected testers will receive a private TestFlight invitation and a detailed step-by-step testing document.
Testing scope includes:
Installation and first launch
Navigation and usability
Ten learning chapters
Lessons, chapter checks and practice sessions
Daily Challenge and Pro Challenge
Progress, accuracy, mastery and streak tracking
Saving and resuming interrupted sessions
Offline learning and offline METAR Reference
Live METAR airport search by city, airport name, ICAO and IATA code
Live, cached, stale and unavailable weather-data states
Light and Dark appearance
Portrait and landscape layouts
Large text and accessibility checks
English and any additional languages assigned to the tester
Optional TestFlight purchase and Restore Purchases testing
Requirements:
You must own a physical iPhone/iPad supported by TestFlight.
You must state your iPhone/iPad model, iOS version, country and native language in your bid.
Previous mobile application testing experience is preferred.
Aviation or pilot experience is helpful but not required.
Please state whether you have experience with VoiceOver, accessibility testing, localisation testing or aviation software.
You must be able to follow a detailed written test plan in English.
You must not share the TestFlight invitation or application build.
Required deliverables:
A completed results sheet showing Pass, Fail, Blocked or Not Run for every assigned scenario.
A separate report for every discovered defect.
Clear reproduction steps, expected behaviour and actual behaviour.
Screenshots for visual, wording and state problems.
Screen recordings for crashes, broken workflows or timing-related problems where practical.
Exact METAR text, airport and question details for any aviation-content issue.
A final report summarising tested devices, completed scenarios, defects by severity and release recommendation.
Each reported defect must include the application build, iPhone model, iOS version, language, network state and reproduction rate.
Please include the following information in your bid:
Your iPhone/iPad model and iOS version
Your country and native language
Your mobile testing experience
Whether you can test offline behaviour and both Wi-Fi and mobile data
Whether you can test portrait and landscape layouts
Whether you can test VoiceOver and the largest iOS text size
Whether you have aviation, pilot, ATC, dispatch or METAR knowledge
Your estimated time for completing the full test and report
One short example of a well-written mobile bug report from your previous work, with confidential details removed

Testing must be performed on physical Apple devices. Simulator-only testing will not be accepted.
Minimum operating system:
- iPhone: iOS 16.4 or later
- iPad: iPadOS 16.4 or later
- Please state the exact device model and operating-system version in your bid.
- A device running iOS/iPadOS 27 may be used as supplementary coverage, but it must not be the only device used for this assignment.

Preferred devices:
- iPhone SE, 2nd or 3rd generation
- iPhone 8
- iPhone X, XS or 11 Pro

- Reachability of Submit, Next, Close and navigation controls
- Performance on older hardware

2. Standard-size iPhone
Preferred devices:
- iPhone XR, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 or 17
- A standard 6.1-inch model is preferred
Preferred operating system:
- iOS 17, 18 or a later supported version
Testing focus:
- Complete functional test plan
- Learn, Practice, Challenge and Progress
- Offline use and saving progress

3. Large iPhone
Preferred devices:
- iPhone Plus model
- iPhone Pro Max model

- A recent supported iOS version
Testing focus:
- Large-screen spacing and alignment
- Landscape layout
- Long METAR reports
- Large Text and Dynamic Type
- Modal screens and the Pro purchase screen
4. Current visual-effects device
At least one tester should use:
- An iPhone running iOS 26
- Preferably a recent Pro or Pro Max device
Testing focus:
- Native Liquid Glass appearance
- Light and Dark appearance
- Reduce Transparency
- Reduce Motion
- Contrast, readability and animation
- Safe areas and modal presentation
Compatible iPhones
The application supports iPhone 8 and later models that can run iOS 16.4 or later, including:
- iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
- iPhone X, XR, XS and XS Max
- iPhone 11 and later series
- iPhone SE, 2nd and 3rd generation
- Mini, Plus, Pro and Pro Max variants where applicable
The following devices are not supported:
- iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
