Develop Solar SCADA / IoT Telemetry Data Ingestion Backend
Project Description
We are developing TwinPro, a digital twin and monitoring platform for solar power plants.
We require an IoT/backend developer to create a telemetry ingestion service capable of receiving operational data from solar inverters, weather stations, meters, SCBs, transformers and other plant equipment.
Initially, the system will operate using a simulated solar SCADA data generator. It will later be connected to actual solar plants.
Typical Data Points
Inverters
AC power
DC power
Daily energy
Cumulative energy
DC voltage
AC voltage
Current
Frequency
Efficiency
Temperature
Operating status
Weather Station
GHI
POA irradiance
Ambient temperature
Module temperature
Wind speed
Relative humidity
Energy Meter
Active power
Reactive power
Export energy
Import energy
Voltage
Current
Frequency
Power factor
Transformer / SCB
Equipment status
Temperature
Current
Voltage
Alarm/fault status
Scope of Work
Develop telemetry ingestion service.
Support REST/MQTT input.
Create flexible device/tag mapping.
Store timestamped data in PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB or suitable time-series architecture.
Develop 1-minute, 5-minute, hourly and daily aggregation.
Identify missing/bad data.
Store data quality flags.
Create APIs for retrieval of historical telemetry.
Build a configurable SCADA simulator.
Generate multiple days of realistic sample solar-plant data.
The simulator should recreate normal solar behaviour such as:
Zero generation at night
Increasing generation after sunrise
Midday peak
Cloud-induced fluctuations
Equipment alarms
Communication failures
Missing data
Inverter derating
Required Architecture
Device/Simulator → Ingestion API/MQTT → Tag Mapping → Raw Telemetry → Aggregation → TwinPro API
Deliverables
Milestone 1: Telemetry architecture + tag model
Milestone 2: Data ingestion API/MQTT service
Milestone 3: Time-series database implementation
Milestone 4: Solar SCADA simulator
Milestone 5: Aggregated/historical-data APIs + documentation
Important Requirement
The solution must be device-independent. We should be able to add new inverter or sensor manufacturers by configuration rather than rewriting the complete ingestion service.
What to Include in Your Bid
Please explain:
Previous IoT/SCADA projects
Experience with MQTT/Modbus
Recommended time-series database
How you would handle missing SCADA values
Whether you have worked with renewable-energy data
Start your bid with “TWINPRO SCADA”.
Preferred Skills
Python
MQTT
Internet of Things (IoT)
PostgreSQL
Modbus
Suggested Project Type
Fixed Price
Suggested Budget
₹5,000–₹10,000
Target Completion
