I’m building a cross-platform solution—native on both iOS and Android—that lets small shops stay completely on top of their stock and their tax obligations.
Core workflow
• Add an item once, store its purchase price and quantity, and have the app instantly generate a unique scannable barcode.
• At checkout, the cashier can simply scan the code; the system will deduct the quantity, record the sale price, and calculate what VAT and Corporation Tax will be owed on that transaction in real time.
• All staff will have full access, including the ability to adjust inventory, tweak settings, and view historical cost data—so intuitive permissions and secure authentication are a must.
Key features I expect to see working end-to-end
1. Inventory CRUD with barcode creation and in-app/physical barcode scanning.
2. Accurate, transparent VAT + Corp-Tax calculations configurable for different rates.
3. Dashboard and exportable reports that break down stock levels, gross profit, and tax due.
4. Cloud-based database with offline caching so staff can keep selling even if the network drops.
5. Smooth, native-feeling UI on both platforms, ideally built with a single codebase (Flutter, React Native or similar).
Acceptance criteria
• Add, edit, and delete items without crashes or stale data.
• Barcode scans update inventory in under two seconds.
• Tax calculations match sample data within 0.1%.
• Builds pass App Store and Google Play review requirements.
I’ll supply the exact tax rules and branding once we start; you’ll handle architecture, coding, basic UI design, and deployment. Let me know which framework you prefer, any past inventory projects you can reference, and an estimated timeline for an MVP followed by full release. This should incude different levels of VAT like golbal accounting, auto purchase price, if they are buying items at 80% should be able to have the sytem work that out for them.
