We are a boutique accounting practice based in Australia seeking an experienced Intermediate Accountant to support our growing client base. This is a long‑term role, which is ideal for someone looking for stability and a diverse workload. The successful candidate will manage a broad range of responsibilities across accounting, bookkeeping, and compliance functions, supporting both internal processes and client engagements. You will work independently, demonstrate strong technical expertise, and contribute to the efficient operation of our practice. This role is well‑suited to an offshore Intermediate Accountant or Bookkeeper with advanced Australian accounting knowledge and a commitment to long‑term collaboration.
What You’ll Do
Assist with the preparation ofmonthly, quarterly and annual compliance requirements for all client typesincluding:
Activity Statements, AnnualSTP reconciliation and reporting
TPAR Reporting (includingreview of subcontractor payments)
FBT returns (including thecalculation of employee contributions where required)
Income tax returns
Financial statements
Div 7A loan reviews (including completion of loan documents using NTAA templates and calculationsof minimum repayment and interest requirements, completion of dividendstatements for companies)
Review of trust distributionminutes to assist with finalization
Completion of SMSF compliancerequirements (including Transfer balance reporting, preparation of financialstatements and income tax returns, activity Statements, annual pension reviews
Review of fund documents and flagging updates requiredon permanent items such as Binding Death Benefit nominations and FundInvestment Strategies)
Accurately code and processclient transactions using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero and MYOB
Perform bank, credit card,loan, and GST reconciliations
Assist with payrollreconciliations, PAYG Withholding, and superannuation compliance
Support senior team members inthe completion of year-end workpapers and review checklists
Maintain accurate clientrecords and ensure all relevant documentation is filed appropriately
Assist with ATO lodgments andcorrespondence
Stay up to date with currenttax and accounting standards relevant to your role and level
Assist with workflow trackingand time entry to meet internal billing and productivity targets
Collaborate with team membersto support a positive workplace culture and uphold professional standards
Provide support to bookkeepingstaff as needed, including data entry, reconciliations and Activity Statementpreparation
Contribute to team initiativessuch as social media content, development of an Accounting Blog for ourwebsite, and process improvement where applicable
Take responsibility for yourown learning and development, with regular feedback and mentoring from seniorteam members
Monitor client workflows, prioritizetasks, and manage deadlines effectively
Any ad hoc work as required bypartners or clients
Requirements
What You Bring
We’relooking for someone who:
Bachelor’s degree inaccounting, commerce or a related field
CPA/CA/IPA qualification (notessential)
Previous experience working inaccounting with a specific focus on Australian taxation
Excellent interpersonal andcommunication skills
Demonstrated high level ofattention to detail
Strong organizational and timemanagement abilities
Ability to maintainconfidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism
Problem-solving mindset andability to work autonomously as well as actively as part of a team
Advanced understanding ofAustralian accounting processes, systems and workflow processes
Previous exposure toaccounting practice management software
High level proficiency inMicrosoft Office Suite and Small business accounting software (MYOB, Xero,Quickbooks etc.)
Demonstrated willingness toadapt to modernized technologies when upgrades are identified and implemented
Some understanding of ATO andASIC reporting software and requirements
Team-focused with a proactiveand collaborative attitude
