PROJECT
We are looking for an experienced AI developer to build a proof of concept of a locally running, interactive, photorealistic AI avatar of a historical figure.
IMPORTANT: the avatar must be photorealistic (e.g. Unreal Engine MetaHuman quality), not cartoon-like or stylized.
GOAL
The avatar should be able to convincingly speak, listen and respond based on a supplied knowledge base about a historical person. The solution should run locally on a computer during use and should not be structurally dependent on an internet connection.
KEY FUNCTIONALITY
The avatar should go beyond simple lip synchronization or a talking head. Ideally, the full face moves naturally, and preferably the full body as well. We also want the possibility to place the avatar in an interactive visual environment or scene in which the historical figure performs actions. For example, a painter standing behind an easel and actually painting.
TECHNICAL FREEDOM
We are open to different technical approaches and would like you to advise on the most suitable combination of models, software and hardware (for example Unreal Engine MetaHuman, NVIDIA Audio2Face, a local LLM, local speech-to-text and text-to-speech). The final solution should run locally as much as reasonably possible.
BUDGET AND PAYMENT
We offer EUR 250 for a working proof of concept. Payment is for a demonstration that meets acceptance criteria agreed in advance. Please explain in your proposal what you can deliver within this budget. Payment is made when the agreed result has been demonstrably shown to work.
ALTERNATIVE PROPOSALS WELCOME
If you believe a different scope or approach would give a better result within or close to this budget, feel free to propose it. Alternative proposals will only be considered if you can show working examples of comparable work you have built yourself, such as a demo video, live link or repository. Proposals without proof of previous work will not be reviewed.
WHAT WE WOULD LIKE FROM YOU
- 2-3 concrete examples of similar photorealistic avatar projects you built yourself, preferably with a working demo
- Which technologies you used and which components run locally
- Your technical approach and the components you would use
- What you need from us to build the proof of concept
- Estimated timeline and price
OWNERSHIP AND HANDOVER
We must be able to take the final solution fully in-house. We want to receive the source code, project files, configurations and necessary documentation, and be able to run and modify the application under our own accounts. We do not want to remain structurally dependent on the developer for operation or further development.
