I publish a news-style magazine and want to stop the manual copy-and-paste routine. I’m looking for an XML structure (and any supporting files such as DTD/XSLT or snippets) that I can import straight into Adobe InDesign so the pages build themselves.
Content types to flow
• Text articles, images and full-page or fractional advertisements all need to be placed automatically.
• Some stories come in fully styled, others arrive raw, so the XML has to accommodate both: when styles are present keep them, and when they’re missing map the tags to the paragraph and character styles I’ll define in the template.
What I expect
• A clean, human-readable XML schema that covers headlines, decks, by-lines, body text, image references, captions, ad slots and page metadata.
• A sample InDesign document (.indd or .indt) with master pages and paragraph/character/object styles already linked to those tags.
• Step-by-step notes (PDF or Markdown) showing me how to import the XML, resolve any images, and rerun the flow when a story changes.
Bonus points if you can:
• Include a simple ExtendScript or JavaScript that triggers the import, assigns styles, and fits images proportionally.
• Provide a short Loom or screen-capture demo of the workflow in action.
I need this ASAP, so please reply with an outline of how quickly you can draft the schema, set up the template and walk me through a first test.
