Last Friday a section of our bedroom ceiling collapsed after contractors began renovation works in the flat directly above our basement apartment. I now need an independent professional to visit the property, inspect the damage, and confirm whether it is safe for the builders upstairs to carry on.

Your first priority is to verify that the remaining ceiling is sound and stable. At the same time, please identify any ongoing risks such as exposed wiring or light fittings, cracks and sagging areas that might still give way, dust or water ingress, and any other factor that could trigger a further collapse.

I must be able to share your findings with our landlord, the managing agent, and if necessary the local council, so the final output has to be a clear, well-structured report that includes:
• Photographic evidence of the damaged and surrounding areas.
• An explicit statement on whether work in the flat above can safely continue or should be halted.
• Practical recommendations to remove the immediate hazards and to prevent a repeat incident.

Please confirm you can attend in person, carry suitable inspection tools (torch, moisture meter, basic electrical tester, PPE) and deliver the written report within 48 hours of the site visit. Feel free to let me know in your proposal how soon you can be on site and any similar assessments you have recently completed.
