I need a single, well-structured gateway virtual machine that will act as Domain Controller, profile server, and network gateway for several Hyper-V hosts running on the same network.
Scope
• Deploy and harden the gateway VM on Hyper-V.
• Promote it to a DC and configure required roles (DNS, DHCP, file/profile services).
• Audit each host’s virtual switch configuration, standardising names and uplink mappings so every VM can route traffic consistently through the new gateway.
• Migrate existing static-IP virtual machines to the gateway-managed addressing scheme with minimal or no downtime.
Key expectations
• Clean PowerShell-based build scripts or clearly documented manual steps.
• Rollback and testing plan covering basic ping tests, domain join, profile roaming, and inter-host VM communication.
• Concise report outlining the final vSwitch layout and any discrepancies found during the audit.
If you have solid Windows Server and Hyper-V networking experience and can deliver a smooth, transparent cut-over, I’d like to work with you.
