This is a paid trial project for a single 1–2 minute reel edit. Raw footage will be shared immediately via Google Drive. I'm hiring 2–3 editors to complete this trial in parallel, and based on quality, communication, and turnaround, I'll be selecting one (or more) for an ongoing monthly retainer — so if this goes well, there's a real long-term opportunity here, not just a one-off gig.
If this leads to ongoing work The retainer role (if we move forward together) would involve:
2–3 long-form videos/month (~15 min each)
20+ standalone reels/month
Additional reels cut down from the long-form videos
Some motion graphics work (data call-outs, charts/maps, stat highlights)
Continuous communication during edits, with room for my input at checkpoints, rather than back-and-forth after a "final" cut
About the channel - I am planning to run a Hinglish-language YouTube channel creating explainer content on business, economy, AI, and geopolitics — think the style/tone of channels like Think School or Limitless Podcast — including current-events coverage and standalone company explainers. Content covers mostly public news and information. Style is strictly professional and engaging — clean pacing, strong visual hierarchy, no gimmicky or low-effort editing.
The trial task
One reel, 1–2 minutes
Raw footage shared via Google Drive, ready now
Turnaround needed: 1 day
Filmed on iPhone camera + a proper podcast mic (clean audio, minimal sound design needed)
On footage/visuals
Anything factually specific to the topic (data, named people, particular events, specific companies etc.) will be provided by me — please don't source this kind of content independently, since inaccuracies here create more revision work for both of us
For general supporting footage/B-roll (generic city shots, generic office/tech visuals, ambient news-style clips, etc.) — I'm not from an editing background, so I likely won't know what's typically available or effective here. For this kind of general/non-factual visual support, please feel free to search and suggest options — that's genuinely useful input I'd want from you
If unsure whether something counts as "factual" vs. "general," just ask before including it
What I'm evaluating in this trial
Edit quality and pacing (professional + engaging, not gimmicky)
How you handle the mix of provided footage + your own supporting visuals
Communication during the edit — I'd like a quick check-in or work-in-progress share if possible, not just a final file dropped at the deadline
Turnaround speed and reliability
Ownership & rights All deliverables from this trial — including the final edited reel and any graphics/assets created — are work-for-hire and become my full ownership upon delivery. Please share complete project/source files along with the final export.
Please include in your application
A link to your portfolio — prioritize samples closest to news/business/explainer or Hinglish content if you have them
Your budget/rate for this trial reel (1–2 min, 1-day turnaround)
