# Project Brief: Premium Product Photography for Boat Fenders

## About us
We're an online brand selling boat fenders and related marine accessories. We're repositioning toward a more premium, trustworthy look and feel, and product photography is the first priority.

## The problem
Our current product photos are outdated — mostly older mobile phone photos and basic background-removed cutouts (see attached examples). They look like generic budget listings, not like a brand people trust to buy marine equipment from.

## The goal
We want our boat fender product photos to look premium, editorial, and trustworthy — comparable to how high-end marine/yacht equipment brands photograph their gear. Open to either:
- AI-assisted photo editing/generation using our existing real product photos as a base, or
- New real photography with professional retouching,

or a combination — happy to hear your recommendation on the best approach to hit this quality bar within a reasonable budget.

## Non-negotiable requirement: product accuracy
Whatever method is used, the final images must accurately represent the real product — correct material (PVC, not fabric or other invented textures), correct color, correct hardware (valve type, rope/ring attachment), and correct construction/seams. We will not accept images where AI generation has invented a different material or design — this creates customer trust and return issues. If AI tools are used, the actual product photo must be used as the base/reference and only styling (background, lighting, mood) may be changed — the product itself must stay unaltered and realistic.

## Brand style reference
- Colors: navy (#0f3347, #0a2535, #1d4a63), gold (#c9a96e, #a98847), sand (#f6f1e8, #ebe2cc),
- Fonts (for context, not part of image deliverables): Playfair Display (headings) + DM Sans (body)
- Mood: understated Scandinavian nautical luxury — calm, precise, tactile, not flashy or over-glossy. Reference points: high-end watch/sailing gear catalog photography (e.g. how a premium brand like Musto or a yacht equipment maker would shoot its gear), not typical e-commerce stock photography.
- We will share reference mood images from our own testing (dark navy background, soft directional light, subtle floor reflection) to align on direction — open to your input on refining this further.

- Ø70cm (also available with Leafield valve)

**Fender covers (fabric covers that fit over the fenders):**
- Cylinder: 75x30cm, 85x36cm, 75x45cm, 100x36cm, 100x45cm
- Ball: Ø40cm, Ø50cm, Ø60cm, Ø70cm

**Other:**
- Custom-size inflatable fender

Note: most sizes share the same design and only differ in scale, so the same lighting/background "recipe" can likely be reused across the whole range rather than treating each as a fully separate shoot — worth discussing efficient batching with the freelancer.

## Shot list per product (where relevant)
1. Hero shot — full product, clean premium background, straight-on or slight 3/4 angle
2. Alternate angle — lying down or 3/4 top-down, showing overall form
3. Detail close-up — valve/air inlet mechanism
4. Detail close-up — seam, stitching and material texture
5. Detail close-up — rope/ring/hook attachment hardware
6. With fender cover mounted (where applicable) — showing real fabric texture and fit
7. In-use shot — fender mounted/hanging on a boat hull, realistic dockside or on-water setting

## Deliverable specs
- High resolution, minimum [2000px] on the longest side (final sizing to be confirmed for our online store)
- Format: JPG or PNG, consistent lighting/background/style across the full set so the product catalog feels like one cohesive series
- Both light-background and dark-premium-background versions may be needed for different use cases (product listing pages vs. hero/marketing banners) — happy to discuss during scoping

- Existing real product photos (angles vary in quality — will share our current library)
- Brand color/style reference and mood examples from our own tests
- Product specification sheet (dimensions, materials, hardware types)
