I am a student on the MA Global Political Economy at King’s College London. I write my own work. I am looking for a writing coach in International / Global Political Economy to help me push essays from a solid Merit into Distinction territory.
Background: Last term I worked really hard but scored 65. Distinction at King’s is 70+. I want help closing that gap — not ghostwriting.
Scope of work (coming academic year)
1. Two assessed essays, ~4,000 words each
- Module: Decolonising Global Political Economy
- Module: Political Economy of International Migration
2. One dissertation, ~10,000 words** (60-credit dissertation module). Topic not yet fixed; I want advice on scoping a Distinction-level question before I commit.
Exact official word limits and referencing style will be confirmed from the module handbooks. I will share rubrics, reading lists, and marker feedback when available.
What I will do
- Choose the topic / question (with your advice)
- Do the reading and research
- Write every draft in my own words
- Decide what stays in the final submission
What I need you to do: the critical last mile that pushes my work over 70. Apart from basic language/style edit, this may include identifying insightful perspectives/critiques that I may have overlooked, thereby demonstrating deeper understanding, critical thinking, and originality.
Ideal qualities of writing coach :
- PhD or strong MA in IPE / GPE / political economy of migration / postcolonial or decolonial political economy
- Experience with UK taught-master’s marking (King’s, LSE, SOAS, or similar)
- Can show (anonymised) examples of feedback that improved structure and argument, not just grammar
- Available for two essay cycles plus a dissertation timeline (proposal → chapter comments → final edit)
Please quote separately for: (a) one 4,000-word essay cycle, (b) dissertation topic + proposal advice, (c) full dissertation comment + language edit. State your turnaround time and whether you have capacity across the whole year starting as soon as this October.
