I have already built the core AI product and its model architecture; what’s left are several deep mathematical tasks that will push performance to our target level. The first milestone focuses squarely on optimization and gradient-based methods.
Your task is to translate the theoretical objective I provide into a rigorous, numerically stable algorithm, then deliver a production-ready implementation. I will supply the loss formulation, boundary conditions, and sample data once an NDA is in place.
Deliverables
• A clearly documented derivation of the chosen multivariable, possibly constrained, optimization technique, including convergence guarantees and any regularisation or line-search strategy used.
• Clean, modular Python code (NumPy / PyTorch are my current stacks) that drops directly into the existing pipeline.
• A concise technical memo and reproducible notebook demonstrating the routine hitting or surpassing my stated metric on the supplied dataset.
• Unit tests that cover edge cases and verify numerical stability.
Acceptance criteria
— Achieves the target metric within ±1 % of my baseline on the test set.
— Passes all unit tests without gradient explosions or vanishing issues.
— Documentation is thorough enough for another researcher to replicate the results.
If this phase goes smoothly, we will move on to the matrix decomposition, eigenvalue analysis, Bayesian optimisation, and differential-equation stability tasks already mapped out.
When you reply, point me to a specific project where you built or tuned an optimisation routine for an ML model so I can assess fit quickly. I’m happy to answer any clarifying questions once we have the NDA in place.
