Google Chat to Sheets Integration

I need a small workflow that watches a dedicated space in Google Chat and pushes every new message—full text, sender, timestamp, and thread link—straight into a Google Sheet the moment it is posted. Real-time speed is critical; hourly or daily syncs won’t work for this purpose.

My preferred stack is Google-native (Apps Script, Google Chat API, Pub/Sub) but I am open to a lightweight third-party bridge such as Zapier or Make if it delivers the same immediacy and remains easy for me to maintain. Whatever you choose, the solution must live in my Google Workspace tenant and stay within its security boundaries.

Deliverables
• A working script/integration that captures every new message in the target Chat space and appends a new row in my chosen Sheet instantly.
• Simple configuration file or on-sheet settings so I can point the tool at a different space or spreadsheet in the future without rewriting code.
• Clear setup instructions and brief hand-off call or Loom video showing how to redeploy if tokens expire.

Acceptance criteria
1. Sending a test line in Chat appears in Sheets in under five seconds.
2. No duplicate rows when a message is edited or the bot restarts.
3. Solution requires no paid add-ons beyond what is already included in Google Workspace unless I approve them first.
